Creating the A280-CFE Blaster: Star Wars Inspired

in

Garrett Negen and Guns America posted a build of a Cassian Andor’s A280-CFE blaster. As a firearms instructor and Star Wars nerd, this hits home.

Most (all?) Star Wars blasters are based on real life firearms. Han Solo’s iconic DL-44 is based on a Mauser C96 “broomhandle” pistol. Stormtroopers E-11 is based on a British Sterling sub-machine gun. I have seen builds based on airsoft replicas, but cutting up one of these real firearms would be sacrilidge.

Enter Rogue One. Set immediately before the original Star Wars trilogy, but filmed in modern time, they used was what available in the 2015 timeframe.

Main character Cassian Andor has a modular blaster based on an AR-15 platform.

A black firearm resting on a bed of rocks, showcasing its detailed design and components.
A man in a fur-lined jacket holding a weapon, with a serious expression and a backpack, set against a dark background.

The build is super-simple, but does involve shortening the barrel and printing some parts. I definitely have to add this build to my to do list.
